As a gesture of Portland's hope and goodwill toward the victims of the recent disasters in Japan, we're having a community paper folding to make cranes on Saturday, March 19th from 12pm – 5pm. The folded cranes will go on display at the Portland Japanese Garden's memorial Wish Arbor throughout the month.
Origami paper and instructions will be available, although donations of more origami paper are gratefully accepted. There will also be a jar for monetary donations to the American Red Cross in support of relief for the disaster victims in Japan. All monetary donations will go directly to the American Red Cross. You can also donate directly to the Mercy Corps Oregon Japan Relief Fund.
All are welcome and encouraged to stop by Flying Cat Coffee Co. this Saturday to help make these cranes. Stay for a few hours or just a few minutes and help us.
Make a donation to the American Red Cross online.
More information on the Portland Japanese Garden Memorial can be found on their site.
You can RSVP to the event on our Facebook event page to let us know you're coming, but it's not necessary.
Thanks to Flying Cat Coffee Co for providing the space.
