    Upgrades

OrrerySo I updated to the latest stable WordPress version, and it went pretty smoothly. Nothing seems to have broken, and hopefully I will discover all sorts of fun new features.

Something else getting an upgrade is the images associated with each post. I’ve started uploading some of my own photos to use, as I figured that would be a more personalized touch than using something like morguefile.com, however cool they may be. So expect more cool pictures to replace all of the small thumbnails in place now. Also, more fiction to follow soon.

    Projekt Geist

ShinyThis is the beginning of a piece I’ve been working on for quite some time. It’s seen some neglect lately, so I got it out again to work on today. The whole idea has been boiling around in my head for about 5 years or so now, and has undergone quite a bit of change in that time.

It currently starts out with a weird little poetical construction that I’m not entirely certain works for it, but it’s interesting and I hope you like it.

    Creating a Space

The other day I was notified of an interesting website by Warren Ellis, via his Bad Signal mailing list. He noted that one of the things that makes Createspace huge is that it has the distribution power of Amazon behind it. This is pretty giant. And it’s free.

Also it appears to be down for maintenance right now. At any rate, I fully intend to publish something through this service, though I have no idea what right now. I might be tempted to do something photographic in content if I could get a sample of what the reproduction looks like.

Lulu.com has been around for a while, and I was intrigued when I heard an interview with the founder of it on NPR once a while back. Though I admit I haven’t really looked at it much, or really at any other vanity or self-publishing press. Createspace is the first one of these to really catch my eye, since it has the weight of Amazon behind it.

As an unpublished writer, I am definitely interested in something like this. If not as a way to catapult ones self into “Teh Business” at least as a way to have a set of ideas printed and bound so I can say to myself, “I made this. And it is … good.”

    The End Part Three

    Nebula

This is a continuation of a story I worked on some time ago in collaboration with SJ Hundak on ficlets.

    Part One

    Part Two

    Original Ficlet

And wow, it occurs to me that this is Ficlet number 1 by the lead designer of the site.
